Community Health Worker Voluntary Certification

Community Health Workers (CHW) are essential components to the current and future infrastructure of healthcare. Community Health Workers have the opportunity to become Voluntary Certified through the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS). This process will benefit the CHW workforce in many ways including building financial sustainability through Medicaid reimbursement, further community integration opportunities, and more. Since 2018, ADHS has been working to improve the licensing process and overall experience for CHWs/licensees. In November of 2022, the online portal was established to meet the needs of the applicants and streamline this process. CHWs who meet the requirements which are outlined on the ADHS website are encouraged to complete this certification which involves creating an online account, uploading supporting documentation to establish eligibility, and paying the application fee.
