Dr. John Molina
Dr. John Molina is Pascua Yaqui and Yavapai Apache. He has held positions as Compliance Officer and Health Systems Director for Native Health Urban Indian Clinic (Phoenix, AZ); Health Systems Director for the Kenaitze Indian Tribe (Kenai, AK); Chief Executive Officer for Phoenix Indian Medical Center; and Assistant Director and Medical Director for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS). He practiced as an OB/GYN physician with the Indian Health Service and Las Fuentes Health Clinic, which he founded in his hometown of Guadalupe, Arizona.
Dr. Molina is a graduate of the University of Arizona, College of Medicine, and Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Conner College of Law. He also received an honorary doctoral degree in letters, litterarum humanarum (DHL) from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences in Kirksville, Missouri, for his humanitarian work. Dr. Molina is on faculty with the University of Arizona, Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and ex officio board member with the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation.
His interests are in the alignment of Indigenous Medicine and Western Medicine, and Indian Health Care Law and Policy. He is a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoys participating in Indigenous cultural events with his wife Dr. Stephanie Little Hawk-Big Crow, Oglala Lakota from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Together they have 6 adult children and 11 grandchildren.
